Introduction to BANL
The Business Association of Newfoundland and Labrador was formed in 1983. The Mandate of the Association is to promote business within its membership. Currently, the Association maintains a membership of more than 60 local businesses. A president and a board of directors are elected from its member business annually, who in turn represent the membership in the larger business community and political area.
The Association asserts strict participation requirements and collects a membership fee as a means of financing its Club activities.
As the Association has matured, it has demonstrated its tremendous growth potential. Increasing membership is an ongoing goal for the Business Association and expansion into other regions of the province is also an objective. |
Becoming a Member
The Business Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (BANL) was formed in 1983 by a small group of local entrepreneurs. These business people joined together for their mutual benefit and support. Facing Newfoundland and Labrador's harsh economic climate, it was felt that through networking the likelihood of profitability would be increased. Building from this belief, from a small group of six, our Association has grown steadily since the beginning.
The aims of our Association, both then and now, are clear and straight-forward: encourage business within and for our membership and promote sound business practices by our membership. Through the attainment of these aims, our Association is attempting to stimulate employment and the local economy.
